HISTORY
The Bondi Tens Charity Rugby Tournament (B10’s) is an annual rugby union competition held in the heart of Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. Initially held in 2005 the tournament has welcomed teams from across Australia, Asia and the UK and maintains a focus on amateur involvement – for the love of the game.
In 2002 a team from Woollahra Colleagues, the host of the B10’s, travelled to Bali to participate in the 2002 Bali Tens Tournament. Tragically the tournament coincided with the Bali Bombings where 29 players lost their lives including many friends of the Woollahra Colleagues team and one team mate.
In tribute and memory of their lost friends, Colleagues decided to organise an Australian based tournament to raise funds for charity. Across the tournament’s history it has been successful in raising approximately $200,000 for various charities including foundation beneficiary the Royal North Shore Hospital as well as notable causes such as Beyond Blue, Cure for Life and the Cauliflower Club of Australia. It remains a perpetual policy of the tournament to remain a charity focused event.
